A community organisation committed to social justice and collective wellbeing. They design opportunities for participation, wellbeing and collective community action contributing to a flourishing civil society. Their participative approaches include two community meals, a weekly ‘Peoples Kitchen’ and a monthly ‘Meeting Place’ dinner.
The Peoples Kitchen provides a place for people to come ‘cook’n’eat. Stemming from a conversation with two homeless people, the Peoples Kitchen provides a tool for people to connect, learn from each other, build relationships and provides a facilitated space to sort out issues such as power plays, conflict and how people contribute. The Meeting Place started from conversations resulting in people from culturally diverse backgrounds coming together to share food from their culture of origin and in doing so, sharing cultural diversity, challenging stereotypes, building friendships and providing a place for social inclusion.
