Community Groups attend Healthy Towns Morning Tea

27 May 2016

A big thank you to all the community group members and community development workers who were able to attend our first Healthy Towns Morning Tea event.

The morning tea was held at Millwell Rd Community Centre in Maroochydore. Participants were treated to a delicious morning tea supplied by ‘Meals on Wheels’ and a presentation by Dr Jane Taylor on the Healthy Towns concept and how to apply for a Healthy Towns Award.

Groups attending included representatives from community gardens, men’s shed’s, wheelchair basketball, local history groups, neighbourhood groups and community development workers from Caloundra, Noosa and Maroochydore. Also attending was Cr Jenny McKay from Sunshine Coast Council who holds the Community and Environment portfolio.

We received some great feedback from community group members on our website and promotion of Healthy Towns. Groups were also able to network and make new friends, which is what Healthy Towns is all about.
